The wedding took place in her father's, Elijah Simpson's home. Lewis's uncle, Enoch Williams, Esqr. performed the ceremony. Since Enoch Williams was married to a Miss Helms, he was already related through marriage to Permelia, whose mother was Tabitha Helms. Lewis's cousin, Caswell Helms, son of Rhoda Williams and Mr. Helms, served as their witness. - -These notes come from the original marriage pages of the L.D.H. Williams family Bible brought to Arkansas from North Carolina in 1899 by Elijah Alexander Williams and his wife Hester Lucinda Helms, now in possession of Charles Withrow Williams, Nashville, Arkansas. This is a large, old Bible. It has a tooled black leather cover and many lovely engraved pictures of Biblical scenes. Unfortunately, during the trip from North Carolina to Arkansas, the Bible suffered damage and it is falling apart at the seams. The high acid quality paper used at the time of its manufacture make it impossible to rebind, but the family record pages are still readable, a wonderful record of this Baptist family.

There is a lot of confusion about the Green/Gage marriage. Mary Gage appears to have been a widow with daughters (her original surname has not been uncovered) who married a widower Shadrack Green (b.1720-1740) who had recently moved to the area with what appears to be a grown son Shadrack (b.1766). The elder Shadrack and Mary have a total of two children together before he dies after 1800 -- Joshua Green (b.1781) and Shadrack "Shady" Green (b.1789).

This cemetery can be reached from Lawndale, NC by going east on NC 182 until you are about out of Lawndale and then making a right turn onto Ball Park Road. Go out Ball Park Rd. about a mile until you start to go into a curve to the left and there you turn right onto Power House Road. Go about two tenths of a mile out this road and find a paved drive to the right. This drive has a gate that might or might not be closed. The cemetery is at the top oh the little hill on the right side of the road, There is junk all over the cemetery and several pretty large trees. There is evidence of several other graves but only two that can be read. This is one of those really sad cemeteries.
