    • Jefferson D. Scoggins is listed as Jeff in the 1880 Cleveland County census and living with his half sister Mrs. O. C. (Colis) White in #7 township. Family members say Jeff died while in the Cleveland County home and the county buried him. Jeff was "a bad apple", he was reported to be very abusive and was shot by Ruffin Powell (a son-in-law) at one point. Jeff and Zulie eventually moved to Hawkinsville, Ga where Zulie died and is buried. Jeff returnded to Cleveland County and is reportedly buried at Sandy Plains Baptist Church in an unmarked grave.
