    The 1900 Cleveland County census show George and Allice F. living in #8 township (Polkville).

    George Greene died of carcinoma of the liver and is buried in the Polkville Methodist Church Cemetery. His tombstone lists his birthdate as 8/23/78 while the death certificate lists 8/30/1877.

    George married Allice Florence Short in 1899. Allice was born on 27 Aug 1881 in North Carolina; died on 27 May 1978 in Cleveland County, North Carolina. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    William and Fanny are listed in the 1880 Cleveland Co. census #8 township, house #242. James B. Bridges and Martha Jane are living next door. In the 1870 census they are living in #8 township (Camp Call) house #54. In the 1860 Rutherford County census William is listed as 25 years old, the same age as Fannie, and lists his birthplace as NC.

    (This may not be the correct William Green, but he is not in his parent's household in 1860 and he is in the neighborhood, and the age is about right.)

    NOTE: William should be about 43-45, not 54.

    The Tombstone at Camp Creek Baptist Church has 1817 as the birth year. I believe that this may be a mistake. He has a brother and several nephews buried here. The year of death appears to be correct and there is no wife buried near by. There are no other William R. Green's to be found in the county. There are no other William R. Greene's known to have lived in the area. Everything else points to this being the correct William R. Greene. BUT family tradition says that William went to SC to sell goods and died on that trip and was buried in SC. Need to keep looking to be sure.
