From Clevelamd Gardner's notes: The William Gardner home place is located on the Shelby Spartanburg Highway, Formerly the Old Post Road, where the Green River crosses the old road about seven miles south of Gaffney and one half mile southeast of Macedonia Baptist Church. William had a total of 18 children.

4. | Martin Gardner was born on 2 Mar 1814 (son of Jeremiah "Jerry" Gardner and Jane (Jennie) Huston Alexander); died on 7 Feb 1877 in Gaffney, Cherokee County, SC. Notes:
From Clevelamd Gardner's notes: Martin Gardner And wife bought a farm of about 100 acres situated on the Shelby Spartanburg Road and about two miles south of Macedonia Babtist Church, then in Spartanburg Co. now Cherokee Co. S.C. This farm is about 10 miles south of Gaffney, SC. Martin lived here for about 20 years. He then bought 261 acres about two and one half miles west of Macedonia Church where he lived until he died. Martin was known to be a Strong Republician. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where both he and his wife are buried. They had twelve children.
Martin married Lydia Horn in May 1832. Lydia (daughter of James Horn and Rachel Cornwell) was born on 6 Jan 1817; died on 8 Jun 1888; was buried in South Carolina. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
