    Notes:

    Simon Davis (Nathan's Uncle) served as bondsman for Nathan Davis's marriage to Menerva Daves.

    Nathan was the last of the Davis boys to go into the Civil War in the 40 to 45 call and did not live long.

    Listed in North Carolina Troops: 1861-1865 as N. F. Davis. Enlisted on April 20, 1864 and died near Danville, Va. on or about August 17, 1864 of chronic diarrhea. Served in Co. B, 34th Regiment, the same one that Hamby and Simon was in but neither would have been there by the time Nathan got there.

    Appears in 1860 Cleveland County, NC census.

    Nathaniel married Menerva Daves on 28 Feb 1854 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Menerva was born on 28 Apr 1828 in Rutherford County, North Carolina; died on 10 Jun 1911 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
